4 Successful Habits to Help You Lose Fat

Have you ever tried out the latest diet to lose fat, had reasonable success for a few months, and then fallen off the wagon again? If you answered yes, this article is for you.

Every successful client I have had who has lost fat, or success story I have heard of someone losing fat, have all bought into the same idea… consistency. There are no quick fixes out there. If there were, I’d be out of a job. As I’ve said before, if you want to achieve any of your goals, you have to be consistent over and over again.

In this article I am going to give you 4 habits, that if you stick being consistent with, will help you reach your fat loss goals.

  1. Get The Basics Right First

First and foremost, when it comes to fat loss, forget about supplements and organic vs. non-organic, just focus on the most important stuff first. That is;

  • Eat in a calorie deficit
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Have protein and veggies with every meal
  • Stay away from processed foods

Get those four points nailed first and you won’t be going too far wrong.

  1. Preparation Is Key

Being prepared can be a major factor when it comes to fat loss. I know a lot of my clients work away and can sometimes be caught out because they don’t have their own food with them, and as such just eat whatever’s convenient. This is usually some processed rubbish from the work café or service station. Having food prepared can limit this temptation.

Setting an hour or two aside on a weekend and prepping for the week can give you a massive step towards achieving your fat loss goals. Now I’m not saying you have to live out of Tupperware for the rest of your life. All I’m saying is that it limits the chance of you making poor choices when it comes to food.

  1. Aim For Consistency, Not Perfection

Nobody is perfect. At some point, everybody slips up. And do you know what, that’s ok.

I mentioned this in the very start of this article. You’re looking for consistency. This will beat perfection any day of the week. Just because you had one bad meal one day, doesn’t mean you have to write off the rest of the day and go on a massive binge. Just make your next meal better and stay consistent. Remember, your nutrition and diet is something that is going to stick with you for your entire life. It’s not just something that’s for the lead up to a holiday. That’s where you aim for perfection and then fall completely off the wagon when you get back.

  1. Look For Better Alternatives & Stay In Control

This point is a bit of a double barrelled one. Firstly, life gets in the way and as such, like I mentioned above, you have to drive for consistency. This means maybe choosing the lesser of two evils. Always look for the better option that is going to fit with your goals if you ever find yourself in a situation you know isn’t exactly maybe fat loss friendly.

The second part of this point is to remember, you are in control of what you do. You can say no, you can choose better alternatives. You don’t have to buckle under peer pressure and throw your goals out of the window.

Take Home Points

Those are four points that I think people sometimes forget when it comes to wanting to lose fat or achieve their goals. They’re not massively complicated and really, don’t take too much effort to start adding into your lifestyle.

I’ve always said, the more complicated something is, the less likely people are going to stick to it. The points I’ve mentioned I have used with practically all of my clients. They work. Give them a go and see how it goes.
